View Full Version : This is not right
Went to fire up the green junk yesterday. It took awhile to fire and once it did it backfired. You ever see a water box come apart like this? Not cool sounded like a pipe bomb went off in the garage. I was so stunned i just stood there and looked at it and didn't know what happened for at least 5 minutes.

I am trying to get another one right now so hopefully it will be at least ridable by the race.

I've seen that, and worse.
I've blown the side out of an aluminum waterbox out on a blaster so bad it lifted the hood when it blew - thanks to an Advent ignition that was defective right out of the box. (Advent refused to take it back, refused to cover damages, but did replace it with the "new" version that did actually work fine.)
Anyhow, you need to make sure you know why this happened. Did you over-prime the ski when starting it? I'll bet zig has a waterbox if you need one quick.
Talked to Zig and he does not have one. He is looking for one himself for a project ski of his own. I not sure if I over primed it or not. One thing that might be a factor is the timing advance I installed. I am going to pull that off before I do this again to make sure it is running first. I just purchased a factory pipe water box off of ebay. Should be here on wednesday afternoon.

Yep, timing sure could be the issue. Let me know what happens. I'm already loading up for Lacrosse, and my family vacation begins the moment after my second moto on saturday. I've already loaded up my son's "new" Super Jet in the back of my truck, as this will be his first chance to ride legally during our annual vacation up north (he's 12 now, and passed boater's safety). Anyhow, don't skip lacrosse if you can't fix your kawi - just come and ride his ski. It's just gonna sit in the back of my truck on fri/sat anyhow. It'll just need race numbers put on it. Also, I could give you a ride there - I'm traveling alone on friday morning, but you'd have to find a ride back home. Good luck on the kawi...
