View Full Version : Anybody want a cool motorcycle?

I'm tired of my Suzuki just sitting in my garage, looking cool, but getting dusty. Motorcycles were in my blood long ago, and now I just don't have time for them.

Here's what it is:

1999 Suzuki DR650SE dual sport.

Of course it's modded. Would I ride anything that was stock?

Two Brothers racing exhaust, sounds sweet
K&N air filter, carb rejetted
Full 520 sprocket and chain conversion (got rid of the stupid 525 chain and geared it the way DR650s should have been geared from the factory)
Aluminum skid plate
Answer handlebars and handguards
UFO headlight assembly w/teardrop turnsignals (not DOT legal, but it saved over 10lbs, looks way cooler than stock, and if you get in a motorcycle accident because someone didn't see your front turnsignals, then it's YOUR OWN damn fault anyway)
Mini halogen rear turn signals
(Oh, and my turnsignals blink at the correct speed, because I know how to correctly wire aftermarket turnsignals to blink like OEM ones - unlike most of the putz's you see on 600cc crotch rockets with their turn signals blinking like emergency lights on crack :)...)
Modified throttle lock (gotta have it for freeway cruising - hands go numb)
Mini saddle bags and handlebar crossbar bag, and OEM rear rack - just enough room to carry a few necessities for the road
New Yuasa gel battery last year
Fork seals/fork oil replaced 2 years ago
Engine oil changed every 500 miles since new

I bought this bike from the original owner in March of 2003, and it currently has just over 12,000 miles on it - starts and runs like brand new.

Currently running Continental Enduro Pro tires (25 dirt/75 street) with less than 700 miles on them (minimal wear) - had run full knobbies in the past - the torque this thing makes burns up a rear knobby in 500-700 miles
Come with another set of BRAND NEW Continental Enduro Pro tires, a few good used knobby tires, ALL the stock take-off parts, brand new EBC brake pads (front and rear), 4 or 5 brand new oil filters, brand new inner tubes, spare brand new headlight bulb, and probably a few other new parts I'm forgetting. Just like with my skis, I have all the stuff I know I'm gonna need eventually anyhow IN MY GARAGE ready to go when I need it - no ordering and waiting for crap to arrive. I don't have the patience for that.

If you're looking for wicked a dirt bike, this ain't it. It LOOKS like a dirt bike, but the power and weight are just too much to make it a really fun dirt bike. I took it off road maybe 10 times during the first 2 years I had it, and learned my lesson. If you're looking for a really nimble and fun street bike, that's what this is. Awesome wheelie machine, just roll on the throttle in first or second gear and start shifting. The powerband comes on at idle and stays there till you feel like shifting. It gets 40-45mpg when you ride like a maniac and 50mpg when you only break the law a little bit. It cruises "comfortably" (well, relatively speaking) at 70-75mph, and I've had it over 100mph (confirmed via GPS) a few times when there wasn't a crosswind. The "fun factor" for this bike is really what's neat about it, especially considering the price - $2500, with all the stuff listed above included. It's not quite in mint condition, but it's close, and it looks like it's got way less miles on it that it has - probably because it's been owned by two Suzuki enthusiasts that care about their sh it and know how to take care of it.

Again, like my blaster, I'm only listing it here for the moment - no craigslist, etc - still kinda hesitant to sell this bike, as I know finding another one as nice won't happen for $2500, but I have some other plans for the $$$ to make me happier, I hope ;)...

SOLD!!

Finally decided to snap a pic and throw it up on craigslist yesterday. Had a buyer happy to pay my price in 1/2 a day - and he didn't even bother to test ride it. Guess I wasn't asking enough for it :). Now I just gotta actually try to sell my blaster (and maybe one of my SJs too), and I'll have all the HS cash I need....................
